Project Cargo Logistics Solutions
Moving oversized or heavy freight isn’t as simple as booking a container. Every project is different, and it takes careful planning to make sure the cargo can be loaded, transported, and delivered safely.
Since 1991, Approved Freight Forwarders has helped businesses move project cargo that doesn’t fit inside a standard container. From construction equipment and industrial machinery to oversized building materials, our team handles the planning, coordination, and logistics needed to keep your project moving.
We take care of the entire shipment—from planning the best route and arranging heavy-lift equipment to booking vessel space, managing customs, and coordinating delivery to the job site. Whether you’re shipping to Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, Alaska, or internationally, we’ll build a shipping plan that fits your cargo and your project timeline.

Why Project Cargo Requires a Specialist
Project cargo, whether it’s generators, transformers, industrial machinery, construction equipment, or prefabricated structures, doesn’t move like a standard shipment. Every load is different and requires careful planning before it ever leaves the dock.
Vessel availability: Breakbulk and oversized cargo space is limited and often needs to be reserved well before the planned sailing date.
The right equipment: Oversized freight may require flat racks, platforms, or other specialized equipment to transport it safely.
Port capabilities: Not every port can handle heavy or oversized cargo. We verify the capabilities of both the origin and destination ports before building a shipping plan.
Customs and documentation: Large, high-value shipments often require additional paperwork, and international shipments have custom clearance requirements.
Final delivery: Getting cargo off the vessel is only part of the job. Some shipments require specialized trailers, permits, route surveys, or escort vehicles to safely reach the job site.

Why Shippers Choose Approved for Project Cargo
Approved has moved freight in Jones Act markets — Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, and Alaska — plus international lanes since 1991. We’re a Top 100 3PL provider with owned trucks, warehouses, and teams across seven locations, which means project cargo isn’t handed off between multiple vendors along the way. One team manages your shipment from origin to final placement, with proactive communication at every step.

- Jones Act market expertise since 1991: We’ve moved freight in Jones Act markets for over three decades and understand the vessel, permitting, and customs realities specific to Puerto Rico.
- Owned assets, not just brokered capacity: Trucks, warehouses, and staff across seven locations, including a strategic warehouse near the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach for storage and consolidation.
- Customized project planning: No two project cargo shipments are alike — we build a plan around your equipment, timeline, and job-site constraints rather than forcing freight into a standard process.
- One point of contact, start to finish: A single project manager and real-time visibility from quote to final delivery.
